The search giant was released in February 2008 and since that times Google Sites are based on technology Google that benefited with its acquisition of JotSpot.
One should say that the product is available for free and paid users and it offers pre-defined starter templates such as collaborative workspaces employee intranets, project tracking sites, team sites, and employee profile pages and others.
All the templates can be changed in an easy way up to a point, using Google Sites’ built-in editing tools. Tech template includes about 15 and 20 pre-defined pages that have sample content, embedded app, page layouts, navigation links, and themes.
Users are also will be able to add templates to a public gallery.
According to Johnston, project manager for Google Sites, personal templates such as family sites, weddings, neighborhood associations, clubs, charitable causes, and others can be also used.
Google Sites templates are designed for those who want to get the process of up-and-running quickly and inexpensively. They are for those who are more interested in ease-of-use than overload of enterprise features.
