There are instances when you as a person or your organisation of a bunch of friends try to generate money for a nobel casue and your pocket money is not sufficient for this.So no need to worry as you can always generate money from donations if you have a true and nobel cause even if its for your college tution fee or for someones medical treatment.
Follow these simple guide lines to create your own donation website.
- Before you start to plan anything decide the clear cut reason for which you want to generate money this is the most deciding factor as people will donate or turndown this solely on this basis,if you dont have a strong point.
- Decide the time frame within which you want to rais the money.
- Decide the amount of money to be raised.
- If you can arrange some money try to buy a domain name for your cause and a small server space.
- Then choose a website building platformlike Wordpress or Joomla(Both of which are easy to build,and also provide some other options).Also you can set up your website simply on wordpress.com or Blogger.com but having a specific website brings credibility to your cause.
- Dont choose any fancy and hevy graphic templates.A simple and easy to navigate template will do the job.
- Don't create number of pages.Just A few ones like the Cause page or About page,Contact or your identification page,and a donation button or module for placing paypal donation button.
- Setting Up Paypal
You'll need a Paypal account, and you'll need to link that account to the bank account you want the donated funds to go to. You can then place a Paypal donation button on your site that will allow visitors to donate funds using their own paypal accounts or their credit card. - Write a post telling readers about your goal, what steps you've taken so far, and what you need them to do.Include genuine picutres,certificates if you can in the page and let people know that you and your casue are genuine and not a scam.
- Promoting Your Charity Drive Website:Once you've got your site built, you need to find viewers, and you need to find them fast. That's where social media comes in.Most people these days have some sort of Facebook,orkut or Twitter account, or at the very least, an email account.facebook also provides you to create a "Page " for causes or other things for promotion through which you can easily attract people towards your website ond donation cause by sending them to your friends,their friends and son on.On twitter page you can post your time to time development which is good.Here is an example how facebook or orkut can be very helpfull,I have 194 friends on Facebook - one of those friends has 571 friends, but only 21 of those friends are mutual between us. If we both post the link on Facebook, that link is going to show up in the Facebook feeds of 744 people. Within 48 hours, at least six people posted the link to Facebook - I haven't had a chance to calculate the numbers, but each of these people have at least 100 friends on Facebook, so you can see how large this can get.
- Don't stop at Facebook. Twitter is another great way to promote your charity drive website. When you tweet about your initiative, be sure to ask people to retweet the information. In our case, many of the same people that posted the link on Facebook posted the link on twitter as well - be sure to retweet those links when you see them. If you're following any prominent bloggers or social media experts, send them a DM and ask them to check out your site. Maybe you'll get lucky and they'll agree to make a post about you.
- E-mail your friends and family about the site. I passed information on to my mother, and she e-mailed about 30 friends and family , many of whom have in turn passed it on to others.
Be sure to stress that any donation, even a dollar, helps. When your site is reaching thousands of people, you don't need large donations to meet your goal. Also ask people to pass the site along, whether they can donate or not, and recommend some good ways they can do that - by posting the link on their Facebook accounts, Twitter accounts, etc.
Most importantly, be sure to thank people for their help,through mails or the website.
